Hedgehog Baby by Ellen Maurer-Stroh

It's finished! It's finished!!! I've been meaning to do this for a few years. It's one of DH's favorite animals and the only EMS baby he loves. Since I decided that 2010 will be a year of stitching projects for loved ones, this was the first one I decided to accomplish. Isn't he too cute for words???!

Gong Xi Fa Cai

February 14th, in addition to being Valentine's Day, heralded in the Year of the Tiger. It's customary for families to gather for a huge feast to celebrate, and back home this was always a fun time. Since moving here, things are of course, much quieter and some years have gone by without much of a celebration.

As fortune and blessings would have it, my cousin and I ended up literally around the corner from each other.... halfway around the world. Hopefully the feast we cooked up would've made our moms proud. ;)

The fruit platter, which includes the "angpow"-- red packet.

Bok choy with fried tofu and enoki mushrooms.

Twice-cooked shrimp.

Char-Siu (BBQ pork)

Chinese broccoli with shitake mushrooms and scallops.

Chicken stewed with shitake mushroom, lily flower, and cloud ear.

Steamed chilean sea bass.

Sago with coconut milk and palm sugar.

The damages at the end of the night.... some plates have been cleared away.

Japanese Garden - Tori Center

This picture is almost 2 weeks old, and the Tori Center is all done, minus beads. Not much has changed since then... work has been hella crazy and I find myself in the mentality of "ooooh, this is finished. Now I have to start another section" and the word "start" and I aren't great friends. LOL!!! I do have all 8 pots in the corners done, so it's just a matter of spawning out. Hopefully I'll have something better to show in a couple of weeks.
