Arrrrrgh!!!!!

I'm so pissed off and aggravated and disappointed, I don't want to stitch Spring Knotgarden anymore. :(

You see, there are 2 similar looking symbols (3 diagonal lines) in the chart, of somewhat similar color. One is a DMC color and the other Edmar Rayon. I stitch from the black and white chart, and when I stitched Part 1, it didn't occur to me that there were 2 different symbols. When I discovered my mistake, I sighed with resignation and frogged up all the Edmar rayon (which were a PITA to use) and redid everything. When I started Pt. 2, I was more careful and checked and re-checked. Or so, I thought...

I was feeling better yesterday, just in time for IHSW and actually finished all of that light teal color. Today, I thought I'd catch up on some blog reading before settling to stitch for the day, and saw Ineke's Part 2 and discovered this morning that I had used the freaking wrong color again!!! This time on all 4 tulip shapes, using Edmar again! :( Mine looks like that....

..... just doesn't look good does it? :( I'm so sad I could cry right now. Maybe this project is jinxed.... first with the wrong fabbie sent to me and now this.....

I know this sounds like horrible advice, but maybe it would help to remove the stitches, highlight all of the DMC symbol in bright pink or something, put it in a box and not even think about it for weeks, and then take it out and go, "Wow, the Spring Knotgarden? I remember starting this! It's going to be so cool!" I've wanted to completely give up on stuff before, but after I set it aside for a month or so, I always come back to it really excited about the whole thing and over why I was so infuriated with it in the first place.

Oh !! I am so sorry about your bad story with your Spring Knotgarden ...well, if I were you, I would take off all the wrong stitches, I'd put it aside for a while and I am sure you will be pleased to find it again one of those next months:-))
what do you think about that ?? but be sure I understand your feeling ♥

Joyce,
I am so so sorry this has happened. I would be frustrated as well. It isn't a jinx. I call it a kink in the system. Don't give up. Put it aside if you have to.

You do such beautiful work and I know you love this piece. We are here for you.

I am so sorry for you!
On the colour chart there is some difference, but it is very hard to see. Fortunately the colours aren't mixed too much in this part, but frogging is awful!
Don't give up!

Oh no!! I also think it would be a good idea to put it away for a while and enjoy stitching something else. Although it looks good to me - I don't know how its supposed to look!
give yourself a break and stitch something else for a little while.

O i;m sorry for you, you where so looking forward to stitch this piece, i hope you can find the energy to start again after so much frogging, but please don't give up.
Maybe you can stitch something totally differend first and then go back to it?

Hugs Yvon.

I'm sorry to hear that the naughty frog feels so comfortable with your project, but please, please give it another chance, it's such a wonderful design...
Sometimes frogs seem to like particular colors, I have one living close by my house who seems so eat dmc 842 all the time...
I hope you will make your peace with this wonderful design again (don't let the frog beat you! You are stronger than it *cheer*).

That just sucks!! Don't give up though.

*hugs* I agree with the advice given in comment one and two, don't you have another Chat you need to play with for awhile? ;)

Oh I am so sorry I know you were looking forward to this. I agree with the others, unpick the wrong bit and put it aside and then have another go in a month or so.

Lonneke said...

Ohh nooo. Stupid frogs.

But I agree with the others also. Put it aside for a while. You will forget all the bad stuff and then it will call for you again.
It's too beautiful to completely throw it out.
And you will want to finish it!
Maybe just not now.

Um, not to be the single dissenting voice, but I love the way it looks. The colors are gorgeous!! Of course, it doesn't matter if I like it if you don't like it. I'm sorry you're frogging. It sucks when it's something like that. I hope you finish it someday, but if you need to put it aside for a bit, that that's what you need to do. I know you have other projects on the go that you can work on in the meantime. Or, you COULD start something NEW and EXCITING!! Let us know what you decide.

I am going to agree with mdgtjulie on this one. I think it's beautiful! I really hope you don't give up on it, I look forward to your progress pictures. My advice would be to set it aside for a little while, calm yourself and let the frustrations go. Don't be too hasty! After you have taken a break from it for a bit, go back to it and reevaluate how you feel.

But, PLEASE don't give up on it! Even if you don't come back to for days or weeks or however long you need. It's too beautiful not to stitch.

I also like it how it is.

I'm so sorry! why not leave it aside for a while, as the others said? I think that you won't leave it like that, even if it looks great as it is.

Oh, I'm crying with you. But DON'T let this beat you. I looked real close up and there aren't a huge number of the edmar stitches. Rip em out, give it a break and you might start to love it again, especially when the next fresh part comes out, as this part prob feels a little stale for you by now. It is such a truly stunning design. And all 4 knots will be worth this when they are done, really they will. And you will look back on this PITA and smile one day ;-) Perhaps you could stitch Summer or Frosty now and then you will feel more motivated on Spring as you will have one of the set finished up. Hugs.

Joyce, I understand how it is unpleasant. I am confident that your patience will win this situation. And everything will be fine. Good luck.

Novia said...

As your BESTEST friend I will advice you to give it up, throw it away to me HA HA HA.

wendy111 said...

Novia has one option! LOL

This is a lovely design and I want you to finish it. Like many others who have commented I would say put it away for a little while, it is no use working on it while it is frustrating and disappointing you. Come back to it and fix what you need to fix when you want to love it again for its spring beauty.

On a positive note - at least it is over 2 stitching so frogging is not as difficult as over 1.

Sending you calming thoughts over the internet

I am so sorry that stinkin frog went your way. I thought I squished him pretty good. I hope things go better. This piece is so lovely and you are a great stitcher.

Oh that sucks big time J! I have to say (and I'm not being mean but just saying) that the reason I don't stitch Chat's on a regular basis is I find her symbols confusing. There are a few in Convent's that get me aggravated & I spend alot of time having to look at finished pieces for reference. With that said, however, I think that they are the most beautiful designs out there hands down & I think they are worth the work so maybe you can put it aside for now & when you're in a frogging mood - like anyone is ever in the mood for that - but you can take it out, frog it & then highlight the symbols on the chart for easier identification. So sorry this happened to you Sweets!
