Random Afternoon Question

I have not stitch in 2 days. I've thought about it, I've looked over at the WIP, but no matter how much Petal was calling shrieking, I was curled up on the couch reading Nalini Singh's latest Psy-Changeling book, Kiss of Snow, every possible free moment. I was so into it that on Monday night (and I use that term loosely) I didn't get to bed till 5am. *cue gasp* LOL!!!!

Needless to say, I was a zombie yesterday. Getting too old for that s***. ;)

Which brings me to today's question:
What other hobby has the ability to yank you away from your stitching?

For me, it's a new book from my favorite authors, and looking forward into the next year, Diablo 3 is going to do MAJOR damage to my stitching time... I just know it. I get heart palpitations just thinking about it. ;)

Sometimes I start playing Sudoku and literally can't stop! I'll stay up late in the night playing, it can be addicting. I keep playing game after game after game. Also if I am looking at blogs and then go window shopping looking at new Chats or other patterns, no stitching will get done, lol!! I can spend a whole day browsing the forums, stores, and blogs!

Video games, traveling, food and spending time with friends. All sure fire ways to get me away from my stitchery.

For me as well its reading! Sometimes instead of reading I just want to curl up with a book rather than stitch! I know shocking right!!! But when I get back to the stitching its with renewed enthusiasm! How funny is it that I haven't stitched either the last couple of days because I was reading also!!!

Mhm there are many things that drag me away from my needle..
First of all it's math exercises... I start, it does work and I continue to get things done until it doesn't work any more and I think my butt off to set things right....
For the normal hobbies... Well reading! Some books are so good I just can't put them down! Worst thing is when the sun is shining and I'm lying outside all the time reading... :)
And if I start playing a good game time just fades, too. But I don't play a lot, so that doesn't happen so often.

My other hobby that takes me away from stitching is reading. I am a book hoarder. :)

Certainly it is my music!
I play the oboe...and when i do that i forgot all and everything in the world!
And singing also does that for me...i am a soprano and sings in a small choir, with solo,s sometimes....so yes, music is my other great hobby!
But reading a good book is nice to....

I often do most of my stitching at night. Every few days, my husband and I will catch up on the shows we've recorded and I find myself more interested in watching the shows than listening and stitching. Luckily, with the summer, we have less shows to watch and therefore more time to stitch!

Reading is my other thing too, although I always prefer to stitch ;)
I used to scrapbook too, and do photography, but those have pretty much gone by the wayside as I've developed more and more interest in stitching.
There really is nothing like a book that grabs you like that and doesn't let go. I find books like that are few and far between.

Nothing really, I even neglect essential matters of personal hygeine when I get really into a stitched piece!

A good book will do it although I read far less than I used to, or my camera/photographs will take me away. I have to admit the latter is a bit neglected lately, I have soooo many photos to sort.

The computer is a good tie waster as well - just have to look at other thigs to stitch etc!

Blogging! It takes a lot more time than I thought that it would (even though I have decreased the frequency since I started), but I really have fun doing it.
Shopping for new projects and gathering inspiration from other stitchers' blogs and on-line photo-albums is another time-consuming & stitch-related hobby.

I also meet with the Hash group to run, drink beer and socialize every other Satuirday. It is a lot of fun and a very interesting mix of people.

I also love to take walks! Since DH does not see the charm in walks and I like to walk with someone, preferably my sweet-heart, it really does not take as much time from stitching as I would like.

Oh, and did I mention bird-cage cleaning? ;-)

!!! I didn't realize you're a gamer too. I'm soooooo looking forward to Diablo III as well. World of Warcraft is definitely one of the past times that keeps me away from stitching. Being an avid reader, books are another. Love J.D. Robb aka Nora Roberts. And I'm thinking of picking up photography too. Can I have more than 24 hours in a day, please? ^.^

Stitching is the top priority, so there is nothing that yanks me away from stitching...

One rule i have is that i stitch in night times only - when my son is fast asleep.

Daytime again, stitching is the first thing i take up when my son is napping...

Lately WORK... Don't actually have an other hobby... but what takes me away from stitching are my children, my darling man ('cept that he's a real dear and loves everything I stitch and I enjoy stitching while he's here or I'm there) and every now and then this darned computer with the worlds largest "get me inspired" blogstania :)

Pretty much the same as yours Joyce, books/novels, Starcraft and Diablo 2 (well, you're exactly right about the 3rd one coming up), other computer games and web surfing!
