Random Afternoon Question

Stash..... the one word that can turn us dignified stitchers *snort* into shrieking, giddy, giggling teenagers. ;)

Do you stash and how much stash do you have?

I'm not much of a stasher. I recently discovered that I had more stash than I originally thought, because I was told that "leftover materials from finishes are still stash," and this was said rather gleefully. ;)

Most of my stash consists of gifts from friends and said leftovers. I've been told many, many times that I really should buy stuff I like when they're available because they might become OOP. Good advice.... but I find it hard to get pass the fact that, if I do that, all they will do is sit in a drawer and gather dust. :)

I do stash a little bit. i'm collecting all the Mira charts (and I know i'll never make all of them) and I have a lot of DMC threads and some supplies for some charts I know I'll make up. I don't stash fabric, I can't really afford to, so I buy that as I go. I don't have much stash that I don't have a definite plan for one day.

I don't have much stash either. I have a few things because they were cheap enough to not pass up, but mostly I try to buy as I need it.

I stash...a lot! lol I have enough to keep me busy til retirement and that's a long way off! I get worried about things getting OOP too so I buy just in case.

I am a stashaholic. You do not want to know how much stash I have (majority being charts). I see it, I need it, I try to get it, lol. I wish I had an infinite budget and I would be happy everyday, lol!!! With all the charts I have, I would never have to buy any more in my lifetime! I may need fabric or fibers, but charts....jeesh, I have a lot. But, I am only 31, so I have lots of time to get them all done, haha!!

I have stashed a LOT more in probably the last 5 years than all the time before that. I won't buy a chart, usually, "just because" - it's really, really got to call to me, and every chart I have actually paid money for (or begged from a friend who just finished it), I have every intention of doing. Threads and fabrics, on the other hand, I will get "just because; if I am ordering, say, Carrie's Threads for a specific design, well, hey, while I'm here, let's just grab a few of these others, just to see 'em in person :) And I like Fabric of the Month clubs, just so I MIGHT have that perfect piece of fabric some day.

Some of the fabrics I get, I know what they will be used for immediately; others I get because I love the color - but will have to wait for The Perfect Project to show up :) Some threads do that, too, though not as often as fabric.

IF I threw away ALL of my computers and was never on the 'net from today on, I could "probably" get everything I currently have done. Since I would also have to be jobless after swearing off computers, I'd have more of that time I seem to be lacking in... :) I know many people who can't say that! ESPECIALLY those who shop EVERY SALE at HAED :) :)

I used to be a hugh stash-o-holic, but lately I feel I have matured (at least stitchy matured). I only buy what I am about to start. The unfortunate part about that is that I find something I really want and intend to start right away, but remember my current WIP(he he he).

I seem to have alot of stash somehow! I have almost every DMC, alot of metallics and Mill Hill beads. I have mostly plain fabric in a variety of colours/HPIs, alot bought cheap in sales. I only buy hand-dyed to order (except for that grab bag...)
I have quite a few charts, a huge amount of freebies and a row of books (see my blog for pic!). I also have 3 boxes full of magazines and this year's obsession - small frames - somehow I have accumulated over 40 small frames!

I have a lot of stash.... too much really, I'm gonna try and downsize, some stuff I will never stitch, like I have a ton of Mira patterns that I like but will probably never stitch cause I don't LOVE them but I was going through a collecting phase, I have a lot of hand dyed fabrics cause I am addicted to them :D

Yes I do :) Don't ask me how much stash I've got, but my first DD's compared my stash to her shoes and handbags: "Since you've got so many floss and fabrics that you don't use, then I have all the right to buy shoes and handbags I don't use" LOL guess that says it all... ;)
Happy stashing everyone :D

Oh I am a terrible stasher! I am dreading moving house (we hope to at some point this year) as I am sure the removal van will be filled up with my stitchy stuff before furniture!! xx

Mmmm, you know that you have a serious problem when the "collection" keeps creeping out of the intended storage space into other places, like the living room book-shelf, under the bed, on the kitchen chairs (hidden under the table), etc...
Another hint is that you have to buy a couple of shelves specifically devoted to "organize" the stash (everyone knows that "organize" is the same as "store more efficiently"...)
At least I'm not in the stage that I try to get to the mail-box to get to incoming shipments before DH does. Yet.

OMG, I'm in love with my stash. I go through it and giggle sometimes, thinking about, "When I do this..." I'm such a stash collector. It's so much fun to get a new chart or new fabby and see how lovely it can be!!! I like to go through and look at the symbols used, and see if there are any that could be confused with each other. Then I look at the chart to see how much confetti there is, and how difficult it's gonna be. Love it!!!

I love to stash, hoard - gasp - anything crafty. You never know when you can use something!! I have way more than I need, but not enough to stop, lol!! I am buying kits with silks now, you never know when a company might stop producing them, and then I wouldn't be able to do the project.

Oh, too much stash! I am living away from home to study at the moment, and I miss those big clear storage boxes and folders filled with kits and charts...:(
I am under 30 and think I have enough craft supplies to last until I am approximately 238 years old!

I am a stash addict. I have a for drawer organizer for my scrapbooking plus a rollaway tote and a over the shoulder tote. I have another 4 drawer organizer for cotton fabrics. I have a 4 drawer file cabinet filled with cross stitch charts and mags. I have 4 long shelves full of DMC , Beads, wicker baskets of WIPS, UFOs, fabric and kitten projects. Ok enough rambling lol

Have had stashing tendencies for a while now (I looked through a stash box the other day and found some "just right" fabric which I had forgot I owned!). I do only get stuff I really love - it makes me happy looking through it all. It is mostly charts and some kits, the rest I get as I need.

O Dear. Do I have stash well let me see? um Yea! The worst part for me is that I do multiple crafts so I stash things for many different crafts. Currently my largest collection is my paper crafts. I have tons of paper and supplies for card making and scrap booking. I'm looking for a house for next year and I already told my boyfriend one bedroom is for my craft stuff. He agrees. Moving my crafting stuff including my magazine collection is not going to be fun at all!

I have recently been collecting stash this year and it is fun!! The reason why I have to is because I don't have a stitching store nearby therefore I have to order online. when I order online, I usually get the mats for the pattern I want to stitch and maybe 1 or 2 items on sale which I have an idea of what to make with it. I do have a lack of threads though and find it quite irritating to run off to Michael's to get 1 or 2 colours I don't have (Michael's is hard to get to in Vancouver..takes me an hour and a half to get there). So collecting stash is more of a time and money saving activity than just having stash for the sake of it.

I love to read everybody's answers :) I have stash a bit (mostly charts) and I hope to have a full set of DMC someday, but all my stuff is nicely organised.

Oh and I agree with someone above, being overseas I tend to get lots of things cause I gotta pay the postage anyway :D

I'd love to be a stashaholic, but I don't have this kind of money right now! >.> So most of my stash is made of leftovers. I'm trying to buy only patterns, and not full kits with fabric and thread, so I can make use of the stash I have. Well, sometimes I can't help myself and just buy things!Especially when it's on sale!

I stash, just in case there's ever an apocolypse and I can't buy any more.
You never know, right?
I could keep busy for, oh, fifty years or more...

I'm mostly terrible with stashing fibers. I just love fibers. I do have a fair amount of fabric, but I buy them once a year really, at christmas or birthday and use throughout, since I dye my own fabric, I do just buy ordinary white, which is a way of really justifying it. Hey hubby buys that story anyways. Charts- I used to just buy what I would stitch the following year, but since I now have an LNS--- well........... But really it isn't out of control.

Hi my name is Noni and I am a "stash-aholic"!!! yes I have stash.. and lots of it! I suspect that if I lived a thousand lifetimes I still wouldn't stitch every kit or chart that is sitting in my stash... and it breeds like rabbits!!

I love stash! And now hubby is converted to stash as well with his quilting so it won't be long before the house is taken over by stash....
