Random Afternoon Question

Do you stitch using a stand, Q-snaps, or in hand?

I use a 'lap' stand, although it's not really a lap stand, but more like a vertically-challenged floor stand. LOL!!! I say that 'cos it doesn't sit on my lap, but instead the 'feet' of the stand is on either side of my on the couch. I love my 'lap stand'.... I don't think I'll be able to stitch without it.

I've tried using Q-snaps, but I don't enjoy the square shape of it, and stitching in hand has gone totally out of favor with me as I can't stand to not stitch 2-handed (one hand on top of the piece and one hand on the bottom.)

I use q-snaps or hoops for anything 5x7 or larger. Smaller than that, I stitch in hand.
I tried a floor frame & a lap frame, but I just couldn't get the hang of it. Didn't help that they were cheap and kept collapsing
XD

I use a very basic floor stand that I picked up as a total n00b. Basically, it's a scroll frame on two sticks, haha. I picked up some Q-snaps to really hold my projects in place on it but I've always had to baste extra fabric on to get them on the bars in the first place!

I wish I had a fancier one, or a lap stand because leaning forward to stitch isn't that comfortable! One day!

Scroll frame without stand for big projects and hoop for smaller ones. I have various hand held hoops to match each one. I do anything less than 5" square without frame or hoop xx

Ok, for a second I thought the lap stand ran across the length of the couch and thought that was weird before I finally woke up and realized it's on the couch but on either side of your lap. Duh! I need some coffee or something.

I use my Stitchmate for big items and my 8" qsnap for small projects since I end up taking those everywhere!

I always stitch in hand no matter what size the project. I roll the fabric with the stitched side inside so my hands are only touching the back.
I don't like anything which delays my stitching time like faffing around with hoops or frames! (or bobbins!)

I use Q-Snaps unless is for something really small like an ornament, then I use a small hoop.

I use a bit of everything! I have a different size hoop, scroll frame and Qsnap to suit the size of each project and if the piece is too small I just stitch by hand. :)

At the moment I am using my smalll Qsnap, but once I start my huge HAED's I think I might have to use my old tapestry scroll frame again.

I know there's a floor stand that is compatible with Q snaps, but I don't have one yet. So I'm stuck with one handed stitching. I need my stitching to be portable though, so my scroll frames are out. I usually use a Q. Every once in a long while, I'll use something else, but it's exceedingly rare these days.

Smallish things I use a hoop. I have an awesome K's Creations floor stand and an assortment of scroll frames. I love, love, love my stand and will often even put the hoop in it to take some of the strain off my neck - I sit better at the stand than when I lean over my hoop...

I use an ADP Lap stand. I bought q snaps to try, but it is tough and heavy to hold something once you get used to never having to hold your stitching in hand, lol.

I use both q-snaps & scroll rods. I use the q-snaps on my smaller projects that don't fit well on my scroll.
I have a stand that I used to use with the old couch. I can't use it now with my recliner so I sit with my legs bent so I can still stitch with 2 hands.

In hand stitching all the time. In the beginning (before the floods lol) I tried using stands and hoops and Q-snaps, but I never liked it and ended up giving them all away.

Enjoyed my stay reading your blog.

Happy stitching...

I usually use Qsnaps, but I do have some scroll frames and hoops. I just never can get my scroll frame to a comfortable position and tension, so it tends to be frustrating for me.

I use hoops of different sizes for all my projects.

I use hoops with a seat frame, I really like them because they are portable. I have qsnaps and hand frames what I have bought for bigger projects, but I still use my 20 years old hoops for everything...

I love my ADP Tomorrow's Treasures Lap Stand (http://www.adp-usa.com/product.asp?pagename=Product%20Details&itemid=1082&productId=1428&pagenumber=) and always use it when stitching at home. It's sturdy, pretty, fast & easy to assemble or take apart, and leaves both of my hands free for stitching. When stitching on the go, I use an ADP scroll frame (a small one as my 'on the go' projects obviously have to be small so I won't have to carry a huge amount of fabric and threads with me) without the stand.

I use a scroll frame (I have various sizes) and a floor stand for large projects. I love my floor frame but took two attempts to get one I love. I use it in conjunction with my daylight lamp and magnifier.

I use Q-snaps for my smaller stitching projects.

I used to stitch with hoops but since I bought my first q-snap.. I love it! :)

And even prefer the square shape than the round shape of the hoops ;)

I mostly use Q-snaps, although I own a lot of scroll frames. I have a lap stand and a floor frame but prefer the lap stand

Since a few weeks i use a Qsnap and am in love with it.
I also have a floorstand but I find it dificult to fasten the threads.
Before I have used hoops

I mainly use Q-snaps or if they start to feel heavy or i fancy a change i go back to the good old hoops.I have a Lowery Stand that holds all shapes and sizes, but dont use it often as i like to use frames that i can hold in hand.

Oh, I used to have a floor stand, a GripIt floor stand, which after much "needed" alterations from DH, was no longer useful and had to be discarded. I miss it so much!

For now, for the most part, I use the q-snaps. For really small things like ornaments, I use a plastic hoop, and for the large Chatelaines, I use a homemade scroll frame (that's akward and heavy, lol). I would give anything to have a floor stand once again.

Good question Joyce. Do you use scroll rods in your lap stand?

I admire anyone that can freely stitch in-hand!

I use q-snaps for everything unless it's small then I use the hoops which I hate. I am worthless stitching in-hand. I put my q-snaps into a K's Creations lap stand which I love and am lost without.

I have a variety of scroll frames, q snaps, hoops and other gripper style frames but 99.999999% of the time I just stitch in hand unless it is something that I won't be able to wash after it's finished. I would love a floor stand but unfortunately we don't have the space really.

I am definitely an in-hand stitcher. I have used both Q-snaps and a stitch-stand, and I don't mind using them. Except for the hassle loading and un-loading the linen, the fact that I can't use the sewing method and I don't get to findle my stitching as I go... LOL

I use Q snaps, only have one size thought, the large one. I also choose to stitch with my hands on the smaller pieces as I don't like hoops. I have a couple of scrolls but I need to spend time figuring out how to add the fabric to the scroll without the sticky tape stuff. I would love to invest in a lap/stand so I can stitch two handed which will make things go faster.

I use only loops, and rather small ones. I like useing them quite much, if it wasn't for the makrings >.> I wish to try scrolls or qsnaps someday though. But for now I'm sticking to the "bare stitching necessities", lol
