Friday Randomness

200 followers!!! This is so exciting and humbling. Thanks for the company and I shall endeavor to keep you entertained. :D

Lions are near and dear to my heart. Apart from being my favorite animals, I had the privilege to play with some 8-week and 8-month olds in a lion rescue when we were in Zimbabwe and that memory will bring a smile to my face till the day I die. :)

These pictures surfaced on the net yesterday of a lion cub in distress. I can only imagine its heart-wrenching cry as it called to its mommy. I can't begin to imagine the lioness' feeling of helplessness and anguish as she tried to figure out a way to get to her baby.

Poor cub must have slipped and fell and now it hung on precariously...
all the while mewling for its mom.

Mommy tried to find a firm footing ...

... but had to give up.
The soil must have been very loose and slippery.

Up above, the other members of the pride were watching anxiously.
I can imagine them holding their collective breaths, all wanting to help...

Mommy tried again. A great big leap of faith.
Notice that she went down another path, this one must have given her better footing.

Holding on with fierce determination, she swooped down under her baby.
Those teeth that could tear prey apart, were gentle yet firm on her baby's neck.
A secure grip ...

... and up to safety they went.

Such love... such AMAZING, abundant love...

It doesn't matter the species, a mother's (parent's) love is glorious, unshakeable, unending.

Life gets so busy with work, kids, significant others, and we sometimes neglect to show our appreciation to our parents. Give yours a hug (if you're lucky enough to live close to them), a call, or send them a loving thought (if they're no longer physically with you). It will mean more to them than we could ever know...

Random Afternoon Question & September TUSAL

I forgot to post my September ORTs for Daffycat's TUSAL yesterday, so here it is with lots of pretty, pretty greens from Mermaids of the Deep Blue.

On to today's question... it's been on my mind on and off for almost a year now:

Should I change the look of my blog? Please feel free to elaborate in the comments section. :)
I love this look. I practically built it from scratch and it says so much about me... my love of nature, earth tones, stitching, and cute stuff. Hubby took the header pic when during one of our many visits to the Morikami Museum, and it suited what I wanted for this blog to a tee–a place to lay oops I meant sit (although a lot of you might want to lay when viewing hunky pictures... HAHAHA!) back, relax, and enjoy eye-candy.

However, all sentimentality aside, I'm wondering if it's starting to look old-fashioned. Everyone I've asked has said "NO!! LEAVE IT!"... that it's soothing and relaxing. I can see that, I can, and there is comfort in familiarity; but I'm wondering if maybe I should go the route of... I don't know... something else.

Hot Bods?

Ahahahahaha!! Notice the question mark? Sorry girls, I haven't had time to scour the net for the next drool worthy pic/s, but I was very happy to log on today and see pics of David Tennant staring back at me. He's so, SO gorgeous ... *happy sigh* ... Needless to say, it took me awhile to get started on this post. ;)

I've been MIA for a few days. Been going non-stop and needed some down time. We took yesterday off, with the full intention of staying in the entire long weekend. It was going pretty well too! We bummed around, watched the new seasons of Dr. Who, watched youtube vids, I stitched and caught up on DVR'ed shows, hubby played games... and then, it all came to a screeching halt yesterday when the fridge started crying. Apparently it was feeling empty and has lost it's sense of 'full'filment.

You see, I like to grocery shop after work on Fridays, but that didn't happen since I was in a hurry to get home for my long weekend. Well, you know what they say about procrastination, right? Good!! Cos I don't... LOL!!!

Mermaids of the Deep Blue got some love. I was wondering on a month end finish for them, but that's not going to happen. Remember the title? Well, their bodies are all done and they're sparkly and green and kinda hot... ROFL!!! I just have the skin (yuck!!), hair, jewels, and beading left. Another photostitched picture to show their full scale. :)

Friday Randomness

I've been thinking the last couple of weeks about drool... No, not the cute baby kind (that's me btw, ROFL) or the gross sleeping kind (YUCK!), but more of the dreamy, hunky kind. ;)

I've had quite a bit of requests for more hunk-worthy posts. But I feel that it is my duty, as your blogging friend, to not bore you to death with pics of hunks week after week after week. I mean, surely, that would become yawn-worthy, would it not? *claps hands over ears to muffle the screams of "NO!!!!!"

Thus the idea of a fun Friday Randomness post. Your guess is as good as mine what each week's topic would be. Don't worry... you'll get your hunks... I like looking at them too. ;) But with the vastness of ongoing topics in life and on the internet, I think I'll follow along the lines of my blog name and let randomness rule!

We watched David Tennant's final two episodes as the 10th Dr. Who last night. I've been putting it off for a few days as I really didn't want to see him go, but hubby declared that since he wasn't feeling well last night, "the sick get to choose what we watch" and thus began about 2 1/2 hours worth of heartache.

I never watched the old Dr. Who. Instead, my introduction to this character was the new BBC series where the 9th Doctor was played by Christopher Eccleston. He was funny and personable. His version of the doctor was laid back and happy-go-lucky. Then, he regenerated... and we met "The Doctor."

David Tennant's "Doctor" is much different. It took me a couple of episodes to get used to him, cos he wasn't silly like Eccleson's, and he didn't make me laugh all the time. Instead, he drew me in... I felt his joy, and his pain, and his sorrow each and every episode. He was, at the same time, insane and genius. He felt things deeply–you could see it in his eyes–and in certain still moments, you could feel his despair through the grins and smiles he so bravely put on. Then, there was his crazy hair.... LOL! I love this Doctor... I'm going to miss him terribly.

DT is a brilliant actor. He reminds me of the greats where, with just a look, his eyes compel you to see into the depths of his character's soul. I made a comment to hubby that I'd love to see him and Patrick Stewart in Shakespeare. :) Of course, he's not too shabby looking either. Oh, who am I kidding, he's downright cute!!!

Now, you should know something about me... I love pretty boys. Oh don't get me wrong, I love seeing the hunks too, who wouldn't? ;) But the almost nerdy, geeky ones with the big eyes, an underlying strength, the calm (and sometimes insane) confidence, and a quick, smart mind draw me in.

There's something about them... it's like you know that when push comes to shove, no matter what the circumstance, they have everything necessary to see things through. Any wonder why I married hubby? ;)

I'm going to wish you all a wonderful weekend to some pics of DT...

Random Afternoon Question

When we yielded onto the highway on the way to work this morning, we ended up behind a school bus full of kids.

"I wonder where they're going," I told hubby. Seeing as how it was almost 10am, he replied that maybe they were going on a field trip. The next thing I know, I saw 2 little globes of white... wiggling out of.... surely not.... I looked harder, and....

"OMG," I shrieked and started laughing hysterically... "is he mooning us???" YES!!! Said butt was wiggling and wiggling and I couldn't help but laugh my head off. I don't think hubby thought it was too funny. ;)

Since the bus was in the slow lane, we overtook it and as we did, I looked up (still hysterically laughing) to a group of laughing boys, showed them a thumbs up and mouthed "GOOD JOB!!!" Of course, they all stuck their thumbs up back at me!! Kids.... gotta love them. I hope it made their day... it sure made mine. ROFLMAO!!!

Taking my adventure of the day into account, today's question is truly a random one.... Have you ever been mooned OR mooned at anyone (significant others do not count)?

Today was my first time being mooned and no, I've never done it to anyone.... LOL!

IHSW September - Show and Tell

Hellooooo Hermitters. :D How were your weekends?? 66 Hermitters this month!!!! WOW!! I'm stunned and ecstatic and can't wait to check out your blogs!!!

I didn't have as hermitty (LOL!!! This is great, I'm making up all kinds of 'hermit' words. Webster would be rolling around in his grave...) a weekend as I'd have liked. *hangs head in shame*

I have discovered that watching Dr. Who is very bad for hermitting. We must've finished 1 1/2 seasons over the weekend. It's too addictive, and David Tennant is just so darn cute! I can't wait for BBC's Season 2 of Sherlock Holmes!

But I digress... I know you guys wanna see pics... of HUNKS!! HAHAHAHA!! Today, I'm going to have to disappoint and show some mermie pics instead. ;) Now... I will say that I had to scroll up to start work on their upper bodies, and was too lazy to unscroll to take a full picture. However, I use a photo-stitch program and I thought it turned out pretty good. Please excuse the fact that they're not lined up 100%.

Before: Sept. 15, 2011

After: Sept. 18, 2011
ETA:
Xeihua is stitching a Mistery piece and can't show it over on her blog cos the recipient will see. So, I'm posting it here. Isn't it pretty? :D She has a new start on her blog for IHSW, so do check it out. :)

Xeihua's WIP: QS Reflections

I'm going to relist the links of September's hermitters here, so it's easier access. Enjoy all the gorgeous pics!!!

Happy Hermitting Everyone

Oh my goodness.... as I type this, we are at 55 hermitters!! How exciting! I can't wait to get done with work and head home tonight for a stitchy weekend with my hermitting friends. :D

It's still not too late to sign up for our Sept. IHSW.... :)

Speaking of '55'...
A group of blondes walked into a restaurant chanting "55! 55! 55!!"
When they were seated, one of them told the waiter.. "Bring us your most expensive bottle of champagne!! We're celebrating!!!" and the chant started up again, "55! 55! 55!!"
Curious, the waiter asked, "What are you girls celebrating?"
To which, one of the blondes replied, "We finished a 50 piece jigsaw puzzle in 55 days!!!"
The waiter, perplexed, asked, "That's it?"
Indignantly, another blonde replied, "That's IT???!! On the box it said '4-6 years'!!"

Jo(threadbearuk), if you see this, I can't comment on your blog. :( There is a note on the comment box that says "only a member of this blog may post a comment." I'm not sure if this was set intentionally...

Random Afternoon Question, IHSW, & More

Hello darling hermitters and readers.

First of all... an apology. I'm late again this week catching up with your blogs. I *just* finished a big project at work and I'm hoping to visit with you guys before the weekend is up.

Welcome to all my new followers! :D Your company makes me happy and I'd love to return the favor. Alas... I'm not able to with a few of you. I've tried clicking on everything available on your Profile pop up pages, but to no avail. :( By chance, would the SHOW MY BLOGS option be turned off in your profiles?

On the subject of followers... Anne is working on a giveway on her blog. She has a blogoversary coming up and she's almost at 100 followers. Hop on over and help her to that magical number, will ya? :) She tells the funniest stories and does such beautiful stitching.

International Hermit and Stitch Weekend update... I've changed the IHSW button code on the sidebar to link directly to the IHSW page. Agi had a great idea about linking each month's sign up on this IHSW page, and I've added this right at the top as well.

Taking into account that this is an IHSW weekend, this week's question is: What will you be stitching this weekend?

I'll be full steam ahead on Mermaids of the Deep Blue. :D

No, my dears... no hotties this week. I know you guys had fun last week, but reality has to set in some time... :(

Oh... what the hell....

IHSW - September

Calling all hermiters!!! It's that time again... are you ready for International Hermit and Stitch Weekend?

Oh boy, are these months flying by or what?? Lots of you are experiencing cooler weather, and with the kids back in school and the busy summer months put away for another year, I hope you'll be able to find a little time for yourself this weekend to Hermit and Stitch. :D

As promised, we now have an IHSW button (on the sidebar). Feel free to nab it and use it as you see fit. ;) Don't you guys just love "Hermie? I asked Heidi (of the Lion drawing fame) for the line art and my friend Andi added the color and background. Isn't he adorable??? :D

I also added an IHSW tab at the top of the blog. It consists of a short write up about International Hermit and Stitch Weekend, some simple rules, and a FAQ section. If there are questions that I didn't think of, please let me know and I'll add them in. ;)

My Weekend Stitching ...

... of Mermaids of the Deep Blue was almost non-existent.

Hubby and I cooked up a storm on Saturday as we had my cousin's family, including her parents who are visiting from Malaysia, over for dinner. The menu request was for Indian food, so I made curry chicken, bhoona gosht, aloo gobi, and cumin rice. Should've taken some pics...

The little bit of stitching I did was on Saturday night. I finished all the bright green kreinik in this stitching area and it's so pretty!!!

On Sunday, we ran some errands and after dinner, I spent all night reading Nalini Singh's new book, Archangel's Blade (Guild Hunter). The fourth book in her Guild Hunters' series, this book deviates from the heroine and hero of the first three books, and I have to say, I missed Elena and Raphael. It's a good read, nevertheless.

Random Afternoon Question

Jen asked me this yesterday, and I didn't know. Can you guys help? (Just in case you need to investigate further, the pics are clickable. Who knows... you might see something you missed in the smaller pics... )

Guess who this is?

HAVE A LOOK!!

Still not sure...?

Have another look...

Again... LOOK CLOSER!

Still don't know???!!

Neither do I. But who gives a crap...
JUST LOOK AT HIM!!!! ;)

Alright.... wipe the drool off your keyboards and get back to your regularly scheduled programming. ;) LOL!!!!

Guess What?

As a result of nagging... yes, nagging(!!!) from 2 dear friends, Bren and Jen, that caused the fainting and ambulance trip of 2 other close friends, Heidi and Vanessa, I started Mermaids of the Deep Blue over the long weekend. ;)

Let me explain... It started with me saying that Pt. 4 of Spring Knotgarden is pretty hefty this month, and I can't decide if I want to keep working on Ivy or start MotDB.

I swear, that statement was like nectar, cos Jen latched on to it like a Pooh to a honeycomb!! A Labor Day New Start SAL was created and emails went back and forth just to get me to agree!!! They were relentless! I had no choice!! No choice, I tell ya!! Poor me... *sniff* (so what if I had already received the fabric and the beads and kreiniks are on their way?.. shhhhhhhh.... LOL!!!)

I mentioned this possibility to Heidi and Vanessa and knowing how much I hate new starts and love to finish, V said that they'd both need ambulances if I started MotDB before finishing up Ivy.

Well, it's a good thing I have J and B's addresses, cos guess where the ambulance bills are going... ;)

Chinese Garden Mandala - Pt. 6

All done with Pt. 6 of the Chinese Garden Mandala!! It took me a little longer than anticipated since we spent a great time with my cousin and her family yesterday.

The Spring scene is amazingly beautiful. The colors are stunning and the cherry/plum blossoms are just exquisite!! How absolutely cute is that bridge? :D For a close up of the Rice Terraces in the West Moongate, please see the preceding post. :)

Parts 1 - 6

Chinese Garden Mandala - West Moongate

We got such a nice present from Martina in Pt. 6 of the Chinese Garden Mandala this month!!! In addition to the West Moongate, the chart for the Spring Scene is included!!! *squeeeeeee*

Since I spent the extra time and stitched all the bricks for the West moongate last month, I spent a few hours last night and finished the rice fields scene in it. Didn't get to bed till 3am, but it was well worth it. ;)

On related news, Martina released the nearly final preview of Butterfly Elegance, a companion to Hummingbird Sparkly Mandala. How absolutely gorgeous is that???!! The first thing that grabbed me... nope, not the butterflies.... is the vines and leaves around the butterflies. All that green.... glorious, gorgeous greens!! It was enough to give me heart palpitations!! :D

On non-related news, a few of you guessed it! I added Mermaid of the Deep Blue to my side bar. This will be my next big Mirabilia. You see, I have great plans for them. We're going to do a Mira wall in our home. A tiny one since I'm running out of wall space (one of the hazards of having an open floor plan home). Circle of Friends has been in residence for a long while now, and when I finished Petal Fairy, hubby suggested putting them on the same wall. They looked great!!

Then, I got to thinking.... would Mermaid of Atlantis look good there? Hmm.... nope, cos she's too narrow. Would MotDB work? That has always been one of my favorite Mira mermaids, again... see the greens? ;) A quick few seconds to check the measurements and O HAPPY DAY!!!!!! It works!! So, my Mira wall will have a fairy, three ladies, and two mermaids... all the elements that make up Nora's very prolific designs.

A sneak peak of what the wall will look like. I had to Photoshop in MotDB and Petal Fairy still needs to be framed. Fairy resting above, ladies on the green earth, and mermaids in the sea. Oh.... I'm so excited just thinking about it!!! What do you guys think? :)
