Random Afternoon Question

I'm anticipating a lot of comments with resounding 'NO!s' for today's question.... LOL!!!

Is there a project that you'd love to do but haven't started?

I go through bouts of "ooooh, I should" or "oooh, I will" and while some projects stay at the back of my mind for 'someday,' the one that I keep coming back to is Stephanie Pui-Man Law's World.

It's one of those that translates beautifully into a stitched piece. Couple that with a dark-haired girl and all that green, it's a wonder it's still on my to-do list. ;) This finished piece was stitched by Vay and isn't it just gorgeous???

I have a design that I absolutely love and had my eye on for ages. I eventually bought it the other day in the HAED sale after wanting it for about two years. I still can't start it though until I have saved up to get the floss and fabby. I am being very restrained but I don't know how long I will last before I just buy the supplies and start it!!!!! The design is HAED Beneath the Grand Master by Schim Schimmel, I LOVE dolphins, in fact I am stitching another dolphin design right now. I also love the way that the light is shining through the sea!!!

I've got a couple of designs in my stash that i really want to stitch but somehow i don't dare to start.
I think that is mostly due to all the different kind of stitches that are in the design.
And i really love to try a chatelaine someday.

Hugs Yvon.

I actually have tons! I have been trying so hard to resist starting them all, but round robin commitments are keeping me in check. That HAED that you showed is stunning and I'm sure you won't be resisting for much longer. ;) I have a huge HAED wishlist, but sanity usually prevails. (especially when I see the materials charts and stitch counts!!)

I bought the HAED chart, PTP-Special Delivery, of a baby in the clouds. I would love to stitch this for a future grandchild's room, but there is no baby in sight from my son or daughter, ages 28 and 23. Maybe I should just get a healthy head start!

I really, really want to stitch a Chatelaine. It's not the specialist stitches or threads which are putting me off. Not the size, not even the price (pennies per minute they are still good value).
It's the indecision! I love all of them! I'm waiting for "The One" to speak to me louder than all the others. I will know Him when He comes.
See, I have this serendipitous view to my stitching LOL.

quite a few actually...

I have a couple Chatelaine's on that list, I'd have to check for all the names, but both the Japanese mandela and Japanese box are on it.

Also TW's Peacock Tapestry, that was one of the first large projects that I fell in love with but it still intimidates me so I just pull the chart every once in awhile and admire it...

plus of course many many more that I can't possibly list as it would go on forever! But I will get to them all one day!

ooooo now then there is an awful lot on my must stitch list .... so many can't list them but love yours :) love mouse xxxxx

Totally! But I keep myself from starting them because I've got you in the back of my head telling me not to! What Would Joyce Do?

Ahahaha I love Ewa's comment & she echoes what I was going to post...I dare not start something for fear of being lashed by your whip.

Seriously though, World is one of those that I always wanted to stitch. It is amazing & is charted from the early HAED days. Vay did a beautiful job. For me there are two that I always wanted & must stitch & they are Lily by Renata Cavanaugh which I started about 2-3 years ago & need to get back to. And the other is Dreamsleep which I started too as well around the same time. Dreamsleep is huge & very pretty. BUT, it is a behemoth & I had to put it aside. It was getting on my nerves the way the symbols are charted. Lily however, is black & white & has been calling me as it is just so adorable.

I think you should take the plunge on World. Because it is so large it can be a project that you have going on the side of waiting for other things like new chart parts on your Chats. You have the experience with BAPs & the mere thought of all those greens is tempting enough. Plus she looks like you from a profile view so what the hell are you waiting for? You've been oogling this one for years!

Lol, oh so many I've lost count! Suffice to say that I hope by the time Im a 100 the technology will be so Futurama-ish that I can just be a head in a jar and tell my robots to keep plugging away at my WIPs and Wanna-be-WIPs ...

ohhhhhh one? just one??? hahahahhaha Best joke ever ;) LOL
That design is gorgeous! :)

I have two, both HAED's Sea of Roses and Waiting for Neptune. I love them both BUT I don't want to put all that time and effort into it and not be happy with it. I have seen some HAED's that look great stitched and others that I think wow that was a waste of time and I don't want to be saying that myself lol

Right now I can say Yes! I bought a new HAED (A Good Book) for the Leap Year Sale. I told myself I had to wait till the next IHSW to start. Guess what though I only have to wait 2 more days!!!!

Only everything that is ready to go in the Kitted drawer! LOL The only thing that prevents me (other than overwhelming guilt if I get up to 20 WIPs again) is my pure lack of place to store the WIPs I am not working on - I don't know what I will do if my TW and HAED ever go home from friends' houses! Sparkly Hummingbird & Deep Blue Sea kits are sitting on top of the dog crate, so I have easy access as pieces & parts come in, but I guess they'll have to go live in the Kitted drawer soon, too :( Desert Mandala would be reallllyyy mad if either of those line-jumped!

Oh girl, you CRACK me UP!

Mine is a Châtelaine = Misty Morning Vineyard. I bought myself the chart for my birthday one year. I'm too chicken to start it. Hell, I'm to chicken to even kit it up.

"Bok - bok - bok - BOK!"

My problem is I start EVERYTHING, which is why I have soooo many WIP's!

Five years ago I started a "baby box" for a future grandchild. When Cameron was born 12-14-11 I had 7 framed pieces. They now grace the walls of his nursery. I need to get started on a new "baby box" since he may have a brother or sister in a few years.

I have sooo many thing that I want to start on, but two spring to the forefront. The first is Rosewood Manor's "A Tree by Itself" sampler. I have the chart and fear it will be kitted up soonish (like in the next month or two). The other is a painted canvas (so expensive even though it's not that large)with various scenes from my hometown (Chicago). I have the stitch guide and am in the process of getting all the threads. These two top my list for 2013! (Yes, I have started making a mental list for next year already!) I think I may need an intervention.

LOL there's always something I want to start! I have a Lanarte kit, Arabian woman that I paid a fortune for... Really should stitch that!

I have a beautiful antique floral alphabet sampler I think I will start, but sadly I put it aside to do other things. Maybe I should work on it this weekend, which I am so looking forward to. The calendar is cleared and heaven help anyone or thing that gets in my way of some serious stitching.

blessings, jilly

I actually have one in my stash that is calling loudly to me, but my common sense steps in and says not yet! There are only 24 hours in a day not 48!

It is my special Disney design of Mickey Mouse painting Walt Disney. It is priceless, but I keep putting it off to stitch other projects.

World is beautiful! And yes, I have many projects on my "must stitch" list, so many that I can hardly count them. If only I had just 2-3 hours more in a day...

Krista said...

omg, Yes! I have plenty waiting in the wings, but I think I need to finish something else that is started before starting another big piece.

Mine is the Haunted Mansion Stretching Portraits...I will do them someday and I've recharted them a million times, but I can never get them "just right"!

The Maiden said...

Ohhhh, start it please! This is on my wish list too, so I am going to chant "start it, start it, start it" in hopes that you will. Your metamorphosis is how I found you, so I no you can do it!

Kate said...

I have some that I want to do but none that are screaming at me, stitch stitch! I am finishing off a small stitch (happy dance tomorrow!) but then have no idea for this weekend! I need inspiration! I think you can do it, you are a powerhouse of a stitcher and it will be stunning.

Very funny Joyce!!! I've come up with a little (LOL!) list of starts that I am desperate to get stitching on - but am being VERY strict with myself and not even buying the stash until I finish a few things first. Once CGM is done I may allow myself to start HAED's Mini Unleash the Butterflies using HDFs...there's an Ink Circles design....Glendon Place.....Victoria Sampler.....the temptation is tooooooooo much!!

Kate said...

I have lots that I would love to start, but at the moment I am mid-stash sorting - yes ALL my stash to get my database up to date so only small things on the agenda for me till this is finished.
Next big project should be a wedding sampler that I want to make for the lovely fiancé - have yet to find a design!

Sarah said...

I have a few! Mostly because at this stage of life I can't afford a massive stash. Then again if they were in my stash I probably wouldn't get to stitching them any faster, so maybe it's just as well!!

Stitchesbyme said...

I would love to do so much, but what to choose is always difficult...

Maggee said...

Surely you jest??? I am a TRUE stitcher--I have LOTS!! I finished a piece last Saturday, pulled out a small spring piece to work on for an hour, got home from stitching group, and pulled out a different piece that evening! And so it goes!! Hugs!

Another great question, Joyce! I always think that I need to get all my "oldies but goodies out", such as BOAF, Goode Huswif,Eva Rosenstand, Fremme, and the other vintage charts that have been piling up over the years.
On the WIP side, I always feel a twinge of guilt about neglecting PT and Permin's Stockholmia. Maybe I'd better take'em out for a dusting off...

Carol said...

I'd laugh if it weren't so sad --- my stash is HUGE (I started accumulating (but not stitching) about 15 years ago, and while nothing is actually SCREAMING to be stitched, there are a number of pieces I am AFRAID to start: one needlepoint canvas because I'd have to not only pick the threads but also stitches and that scares the bejeezus out of me, and a complete set of Kats by Kelly and another complete set of Michael Powell and...

So no resounding "No!" from this corner!

Minnie said...

Do I have one you ask? I have one plus about a thousand. Every time I purchase a new CS mag, or go to stitch night at the LNS or see a link to some site with fabulous freebies I find something I just have to stitch but have not started. I have about 6 I've started already.

Heidi said...

*chanting* DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!! You KNOW you wanna start it Joyce...... ;)

You already know I have too many to list! LOL

Anne said...

LOL!!! Why would we want to stitch more you ask?!! Of course I have no projects I want to stitch!!! That's crazy talk!!!

HAHHAHAHA!!!

You know me! I've got loads I wanna stitch! Loads of Chats, as you know!!

Go and stitch this HAED! Why do you even hesitate?!?!!?!She totally looks like you as Jcat mentioned!! Those greens are so lush aren't they!!!

ZUGGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Erm...I have a couple...ok more like 30+ HAED's in my stash...and I want to stitch them all! But I am trying to be a good child and get some finishes in on some older WIPS before I get lost in the heaven that is HAED stitching, lol

/hugs,
Nikki

Yeah, Mermaids of the Deep Blue is the first design that comes to mind. I've been wanting to stitch it since the first time I saw it. I just don't know why I never started it.

Hugs,
Veronica.

Yes, I have several projects I really want to start but I don't have room in my rotation for them. Last Rites is the biggest one.

With my WIP list, you'd think no, but yes! HAEDs! Big ones! Bought, kitted, ready for someday!
