Quick Cirque Update

This is quite an outdated, badly lit picture of Cirque des cercles from about 2 months ago. Haven't had the time or energy to work on it much lately, and Mellie has been trying to get me to finish it by the end of the year so that we can start a sampler SAL.... we shall see. Oh yes, details: Chart: Cirque des cercles by Ink Circles Fabric: 32ct opalescent linen specially dyed by Tammy of Stab and Stash fame Floss: Cocoa from Caron Waterlilies

Merry Christmas 2007

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2007!! This year has flown by, it seems, quicker than in the blink of an eye. Christmas is just a few days away, and I want to take this opportunity to wish all our friends and family and blessed holiday season, and may the hope, joy, and peace of Christmas be with you at this wonderful time and throughout the new year. Redecorating Update

We decided to splurge and live a little and went out and bought a new TV for the living room. I've been doing research up the wazoo for the last few weeks and have been talking non-stop about it, as some of my friends will attest to, until I got to the 'breaking' point. You know what I mean right? It's the point where you either decide to bite the bullet and do what you were thinking of doing, or you decide that French has miraculously become your very proficient second language and think "F it! Forget it!!" In this case, my proficiency in French escaped me. ;) So we went to Best Buy and acquired the latest Sharp 42inch LCD, LC-42d64u . It's much thinner than the other LCDs and plasmas out there, and a definite plus for us is that Sharp has also reduced the bezel size. I won't go into too much technical details, but I will say that it's a GORGEOUS tv!! I really had my heart set on a 46 inch, but I get headaches if I sit too close to a viewing

It's All Chinese

Had dinner with Ai Lin and Ian tonight. Our dinner plans range from mostly eating out (especially on Fridays) to having each other over. They feed us a variety of delish food spanning multiple continents (brats, turkey, hokkien mee, chicken noodle soup.... the list goes on) and we usually make Indian, Indian, and more Indian. Tonight however, we decided to cook chinese for a change. On the menu was: "3 Cup Chicken" - Ai Lin learnt this recipe from a restaurant around here called "Peppers." I'll have to have her teach me how to make it cos it was YUMMY!! She also made steamed broccoli, chinese style, with fried onions, but our photographer didn't get a picture of it. Grrr. >.< I made a tofu dish, using japanese silken tofu, and topped the slices with a ground pork sauce. Also on the menu was my attempt at making my mom's famous "char siu" (chinese BBQ pork) which I'm sad to say never come out as well as hers... I think I never put quit

With the in-laws visiting for 4 months towards the end of the year (long story... think I blogged about the cause late last year), DH and I decided that we'll need a bit more lounging/living space so that we won't be on top of each other all the time. Thus began the task of redoing our Florida/computer room into a den. Thankfully, I neglected to take some before pictures since it was a horrific sight to begin with and was pretty much just a space we had. We linked out 2 computer desks together with some cube shelving (a la Ikea) and the cubes now house all my stash and beads. DH rebuilt my computer and it's now a kick-ass gaming machine, as well as being about to function as a media center. The red curtains were a bold move for us, since we've always gone with the earth tones, but we're really loving the look. They are thermal-lined, and since this room faces the west, these have been a big help in reducing the heat in the afternoons. Also, I finally have a proper p

On the Stitching Front...

... the needle is feeling the sting on loneliness, the threads are sobbing out their misery, and the pattern lays in hopeless forlorn. The biggest factor for the current lack of stitching effort is because we've been redecorating during what little free time we have, but that's the story (and pics) for another day. I did manage to stitch a little here and there on Cirque, but it's just not quite happening. Nevertheless, here's the WIP from September 9th. Tammy, wonderful owner of Stab and Stash and darling friend, special-dyed this gorgeous piece of fabric for me. It's actually the most beautiful shade of dark chocolate brown, and the thread (Waterlilies' Cocoa) blends in beautifully. DH requested that the thread and fabbie for this piece to blend in as much as possible, so create the 'burnt velvet' effect. Now, if I'd get my act together and work on it, the effect might be more prominent.

My First Order!!!

A little background.... I've taught Hannah for 2 years, since she was 4 and when I wore my green "Alien" bracelet to her lesson one time, she totally feel in love with it and begged me to make her one. (Think of the cutest little 6 year old, with puppy dog eyes, saying pleaaaaaase, and you'd understand how hard it was for me to have said 'no.') Of course, I didn't give in that easily, no sirrree bob!! The deal was made that she will only get a bracelet if she didn't whine or complained in class (which lasted all of a month. LOL!) I got a call from Hannah's mom late last week, and without much preamble, she started telling me about how Hannah is finishing Speech after 2 years and they were thinking of getting her a gift. Mom asked her what she would like to get her teacher, and was expecting the answer to be flowers or angels or something along those lines. Much to her surprise (and mine), Hannah told her that she would really love to give h

Hello, Dear Friends

Thanks for such a warm welcome back, girls. I try to check your blogs as much as I can just to stay abreast. Andie, congratulations to you and DH on your pregnancy. It seems like there are so many of my friends that are preggy. :D Noreen, Connor is growing leaps and bounds and those half-naked pics of him are just DARLING!!! Novi, see you soon on YM. ;) Sittrish.... look!! Another blog. Hehehe.

A Blog? A Blog? A Blog You Say?

I should probably ease myself back to this very foreign weird notion of blogging.... this and carving the time out to visit my beloved Crafty Coven again. Saying that things have been hectic lately is such an understatement, it's laughable. Days seems to fly by with minutes and hours rushing pass in the blink of an eye, and before I know it, I'm sprawled out on the couch, falling asleep watching ST:TNG. That in it of itself is sacrilegious!! (Although, the first 4 episodes of the series is soooo horrendously awful that it should be forever struck out of the face of the earth. Hehehe.) I have been nagged (glares at Sittrish) for months to start blogging again and desire to seems to have melted and drizzled away like ice on a hot Florida day. But here I am now, so we'll see how long this bout will last. ;) At the grocery store today, we were checking out and there was this pregnant lady in front of us. Out of the blue, this was her conversation with the cashier and us: La

Floral Retreat Finished!!

It's done, it's done, it's done!!! Whoot whoot, and with one week to spare. :D It came out really well, if I may say so myself and I think mommy is going to like it very much. And just in case she doesn't (she'd better!!) I think I like it enough to bring it back with me, hehehe. ;) The colors came out really well and I love how the scene is so calming and soothing, which is a good thing, since Mommy picked it for this very reason. Now it's just a matter of rolling it up and packing it away.... but I think I shall enjoy it a little first for the next couple of days. ^.^ Floral Retreat Dimensions Gold Collection Stitched over 2 on 28ct cream linen Cross-stitch and half crossed with a varied number of strands Finished: June 13th, 2007

Floral Retreat Update

I was actually going to hold off on uploading this till it's all done.... cos I'm sooooooo close. But since I was being nagged about posting, figured might as well kill 2 birds with one stone. Stitched like a made woman over the weekend.... ok hmm... on second thoughts, not quite so mad, cos I went shopping too. ;) I'm thinking another few days and this should be done, and with a week or so to spare. Mellie would be so proud. ;) By the by, this picture is the product of my new camera, what a honey of a toy it is. Will blog about that later.

Floral Retreat and Then Some

Here's what it's looking like right now. Making decent progress but it's nowhere as far as I'd like for it to be. Looking purdy though, so I hope my mommy will like it. Now, on the beading end, I still haven't gotten around to taking pictures of the recent stuff we've made. However, I made a couple of little gifties last night for 2 friends at work. These were pieces I made for myself that they really liked, so thought it would be nice "Happy Summer" gifts. Changed them a little bit from the way I made mine, of course. Duplicates aren't fun. ;)

A New Addiction

Instead of stitching as much as I should have done over the weekend, I was playing Bookworm Adventures most of Saturday after work and woke up earlier than usual on Sunday to play it. Check it out, it's an awesome-olicious word game. <3 <3 Yup, I'm a nerd. ;) On the stitchy end, there should be a picture update tomorrow. Manage to put in some stitches, but just haven't gotten around to taking a picture yet. Peggy, my office mate, is starting to stress out for me cos I'm leaving in about a month. I told her to not worry cos I'm pretty sure I'll get it done in the next couple of weeks. HOWEVER, if you happen to hear horrendous shrieking, rending of cloth, and gnashing of teeth, that's probably me, a day before I leave, with Floral unfinished. ;)

Floral Retreat Update

This is the update picture from a week ago, and thanks to all the nagging to blog, here it is... ;) Better late than never huh? Haven't done much since then, been sick and in a beading mood. So, got quite a few jewelry pieces done, sans picture (to come later, have to find good lighting. DH says in the sunlight, but that would mean I have to choose to be up early... hmm..... no brainer on that one. The pics are going to have to wait. LOL!)

For My Fans....

.... thanks for being concerned, Satish (Citrix) and Ai Lin. I'm here... not dead yet, and if I pep-talk myself enough, I'll get off my tired bum and post once every 2 days. Or one can hope. Hey!! Maybe instead of beading and stitching, I can blog instead!!! *gasp!* I HAVE too been beading and stitching, not that I've taken any pictures to show for them, so you're just going to have to trust me on it... don't laugh, it's not funny, I'm trustworthy. Angels are that way..... so what if this one has a a devilish streak in her? Mwa-hahahaha. Hey.... Satish.... should I give you a personal special name and call you Satish-Cit or Cit-Satish, oooh ooh or CIT-TISH! :D

Not that it's a slow day or anything, cos I do have 4 manuscripts piled up to proof, but I'm supposed to stagger giving them to the other departments so that they don't get ambushed with a gazillion of manuscripts at once. Couple that with the fact that I don't really feel like working, seeing as how I've passed 3 manuscripts through today, I'm reading Masak-Masak again. 'Again' because I stumbled upon this site a few days ago when I was looking up something for Novi when we were talking about food. And holy moly, what a site!!!! From all these years of being away, I had forgotten the vast variety of yummy AND gorgeous food we have back home. And lucky lucky me, I'll be able to eat all that and more in less than two months. My one worry now is that I won't have time to eat all that yummy food. How tragic will THAT be?

Floral Retreat

This week's update pic.... albeit a few days late. Will write more later. Too much work to do... need to win the lotto! Will someone buy me one? ^.^

New Start.. and A Finish Challenge

As a result of the upcoming trip home, I have to do a mad scramble to start AND finish Floral Retreat for my mommy. She had picked this pattern out from a slew of patterns I sent her sometime last year, and I don't think she expects it as a gift when I head home in the summer, but boy, wouldn't she be surprised! Or at least I hope so... else, I'm taking it back!!! LOL. Mellie and I were talking one day--our chats usually consist of ragging at the non-finishers (Yes! You know who you are and y'all better get stitching if you don't want to feel the sting of my whip! Mwa-hahaha.) and planning our finishes--and we decided that our next finish should be on June 20th. She's been having a hard time rotating between 3 pieces and I plain just haven't been stitching on any BAPs (Big Ass Projects) at all. So we came up with a plan for hopefully 3 finishes PER person this year! ^.^ More notches on our pink jackets. Of course, if I could talk her into doing a blog with

Hewwwwo I'm Back!!!

Same old adage of me being scarce lately.... work... blah blah, tired... yada-yada. You know the drill, so let's just skip that and get into the fun stuff!!! :D I'm going to have to do quite a few follow-up posts after this one in the next few days to catch up on all the happenings.... but the biggest news of late has been.... are you ready? Dun-dun-dun!!!!! We got our green cards!!!! Whooop-dee-dooo!!!! Thank God! ^.^ After all the paperwork and countless phone calls back and forth, the approval notice came in the form of an email... wait.... 3 emails, sent 30 seconds apart. I guess they wanted to make sure we got the news. ;) "This is to inform you yada-yada.... you should be receiving your card within 30 days." The follow up emails (yes, 3 again) the next day notified us that the actual cards were sent out. WHOOT WHOOOT!!! All in all it took them 2 weeks after we resent the medical papers in for them to approve everything and send us our cards. God has truly bee

Check this out!!!! It out to be illegal to be this cute! I want me one of these and I'll take Claritin to stop my allergies for it!!! Me want, me want, ME WANT!!! CUTE-ALICIOUS!!!

I've been scarce lately. Have been up to my eyeballs with work, to the point of no online play time from work! Of all the atrocities!!! Really, don't they know that my gracing the office with my presence is enough? ;) Things have been going slower than I'd like on the stitching end.... BUT I did manage to finish A Bouquet for Cheryl, or as Netts and I fondly call it, CB. After posting it on the Crafty Coven BB, and getting their feedback, I've decided to leave this as the finished piece, and not stitch the cornices that are included in the design. I have to say, I'm supremely pleased by how it turned out, and the color combo is gorgeous, IMO. And it reminds me so much of an Indian/Chinese kinda asian blend. I stitched this for my mil, as a reminder for her everytime she looks at it that we love her.... but I tell ya, I'm hard pressed to keep it for myself. *giggle* Do you see all the little "fish-dragon heads", as I call it? Come to think of it they l

White Peacock

Because Brenda loves me (or so she claims, she showed me White Peacock by Kustom Krafts , and isn't that just drop dead gorgeous?? I tried to resist it, I did, I did!! It's not like I don't have enough things to stitch, and let's not forget that A and I have stitching plans to last us to our 12th lifetime, and counting. But the damn thing keeps drawing me back. I tried to ignore it.... but darn clicky finger keeps clicking back to the link. I tried to stop myself from looking at it.... but darn head keeps popping up from the manuscript I was working and made me stare, and stare, and stare. Oh yes.... drool was involved too! I told Brenda that surely there isn't such a thing as a white peacock, and really, if that's the case, then I shouldn't stitch it, right? Cos yanno, fantasy is one thing, but an angel is going to have to come down to earth once in a while. To prove that I surely can't be that weak-willed, I thought Google would come to my rescue, and

Year of the Pig... OINK OINK!

GONG XI FA CAI Wishing everyone a happy and prosperous New Year!! I'm posting this way late. Chinese New Year fell on February 18th this year, and it's always a time for feasting, eating, and getting together with family and friends. Since I'm here, it's always been Satish and me, and we don't do anything out of the ordinary, so it was just another day for me. The good thing about being here is that we don't have to hand out "ang pow." These are red packets (red symbolizes "good luck" for the Chinese) with brand new money that married couples have to give to kids and unmarried people. The bad thing, of course, is missing all the festivities and food that goes hand in hand with the New Year.... of which one of the most important thing is having new clothes and shoes. Hmm...... I think I should keep up with that part of the tradition at least. ;) Growing up, New Year's eve was spent with all my uncles, aunts, grandparents, and cousins on my

At the Crafty Coven, we're planning on an April/May SAL of Cirque des Cercles by InkCircles. I spent the longest time obsessing about what color floss and fabbie to use for this, and finally decided on Cocoa by Caron Waterlilies... but still have to find a fabbie to go with it though. The plan right now is to get a dark brown fabric and I'm kinda eyeing Stab and Stash's Opalescent Chocolate . Tammy said that she can darken it for me, so I'm eagerly waiting for her to get some free time so that she can send me a sample. In the meantime, Sean came over today for a some stitching and gossiping, and I test stitched on a piece of black 25ct lugana, and I must say, we though it looked pretty damn good!! ^.^ On the immigration front, the letters FINALLY got here last week. I requested a resend, and thank God this time they arrived within a few days and were request for a redo of the medical forms cos they were missing signatures!!!! Now.... I'm not going to point finger

A Bouquet for Cheryl

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Cheryl, but everyone who has known her said that she's the sweetest person ever, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She passed away a couple of weeks ago and her friends charted A Bouquet for Cheryl in her honor. Initially, I downloaded this chart as something I might want to stitch on a later date. I liked the design, but Satish (DH and not of the Citrix fame.... hiya Satish (of the Citrix fame)!!! *wave*) wasn't crazy about the design and I was really wanting to get back into Metamorphosis again. Then my mil called. She was feeling kinda depressed cos things aren't going the greatest over there and it's very heartbreaking for me not to be able to do anything about their situation at the moment. Annette said something really profound on the Crafty Coven the other day, and I quote: "Then while I'm stitching it I'm going to use it as a reflection piece....reflecting on how short life is

Vis-a-Vis Update

I finally put the last stitch in on Vis-a-vis tonight. Yippeee!! I'm too tired to be supremely excited right now, but I think it turned out really well. Now, my initial plan was to stitch two motives end to end so that A will have a longer piece. I'm not so sure now, and through the magic of Photoshop, I've duplicated the motive and this will what I'll want it to look like: What I can't decide about is if it's too much, and if the space between the two motives is too empty. It does balance out better with the duo though, doesn't it?

Check THIS out for some really cool cross stitch pieces. And not for the faint of heart, and be ready to swallow your tongue..... HOLY COW!!!! or should I say HORSE!!!! I think I was in shock for a long, long, LOOOOOONG time. (HAHAHAHA!!!) Oh and of note, Bonnie wanted me to stress the green, moldy spot. Apparently she's studied it long and hard (mwa-hahahahaha). Ok.... 'UP'date: It seems like Annette is the discoverer of the "moldy dick." ROFLMAO!!!!

My Stitchy Chair

I LOVE IT! Now my butt doesn't sink in between 2 cushions when I'm stitching. ROFL! The pic says it all. It's this oversized, overstuffed comfy thing that I can curl up on and stitch. It's wide enough for my scroll frame to sit on and deep enough for me to tuck my feet under me. :D Aren't I so spoilt? *GRIN*

Loser Index

Got another one from Nikki ^.^

Water Bill

Nikki posted this on Crafty Coven and it's too good to not pass along. ******* Jennifer and Jim kept getting huge water bills. They knew beyond a doubt that the bills weren't representative of their actual usage, and no matter how they tried to conserve, the high bills continued. Although they could see nothing wrong, they had everything checked for leaks or problems: first the water meter, then outdoor pipes, indoor pipes, underground pipes, faucets, toilets, washer, ice maker, etc., all to no avail. One day Jim was sick and stayed home in bed, but kept hearing water running downstairs. He finally tore himself from his sick bed to investigate, and stumbled onto the cause of such high water bills. Apparently this was happening all day long when they were not at home. Knowing that few would believe him, he taped a segment of the 'problem' for posterity. THIS is what he saw.....

Candy Heart

Got this off Michelle's blog ... and this is about as Valentiney as I'll ever get. ;) So Happy Valentine's Day one and all. I love y'all, but I would prefer to not have someone in some marketing department tell me when to say it or how much to spend saying it. ;) Your Candy Heart Says "Cutie Pie" You always seem to have a hot date, even though you never try to meet anyone. A total charmer, you have a natural appeal that keeps you in high demand. Your ideal Valentine's Day date: multiple dates with multiple people Your flirting style: 100% natural What turns you off: serious relationship talks Why you're hot: you're totally addicting What Does Your Candy Heart Say?

Mailart From Bonnie

I came home after a long, tiring day to a gorgeous surprise from Bonnie. Satish stopped by the mailbox, took out today's mail, and gave me this big grin as he walked back to the car. In his hand, he held a beatiful green envelope with green stitching in the front, and this beautiful pot of pink roses in the back... my first ever received mailart. ^.^ She even stitched a border around the stamps!!!! Opening it yielded 3 different GORGEOUS hand dyed flossies AND a perfectly stitched pincushion. I am soooo touched. Now, I have to find something to stitch using these pretty, pretty flossies. Meantime, they have, and will continue to be fondled to no end. ^.~ THANK YOU BONNIE!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!

The Smell! The Smell!!!!

When they brought the couch in yesterday, they put teflon on to protect it. Now, when we purchase the protection plan, the lady said that the teflon won't have a smell. So there I was, sitting and laying on the couch most of the day and it didn't smell like leather!!! Did the leather test... you know what this is right? It's where you push your fingernail into the leather. If it's real leather, you leave an imprint of your nail, cos it's skin. If it's fake, it bounces right back. One of those trivial things my dad taught me that I put to use more often than I'd care to admit. LOL!.... and yup, it's leather alright! Although, Satish wouldn't let me do it on the couch, had to do it in a hidden section. Hmmmph! Me: "This stinks!!! Doesn't smell like leather at all!" Him: "It's the teflon, it'll go away." Me: *picks up the sample remnant leather that did NOT get teflonized, sniffed. Sniffed couch* "Nope, smells the

Our New Couch

Went living room furniture shopping yesterday. I've been wanting what's been called a "stitching throne" by Satish and Sean for a few months now. What I really wanted was an oversized chair about the width of a loveseat, but only with 1 sitting cushion so that my bum disappear into the 'sinkhole' between the 2 cushions of a love seat when I'm stitching. ;) 4 hours and 3 furniture stores later, we found a chair for me and a couch for to Satish. The couch is this gorgeous dark-chocolate leather with recliners on both ends. That got delivered today, but no stitchy chair for me since it's back ordered. *cwy* Will be cool when the in-laws visit and can lean back and catch up on movies and such while we're at work. ^.^ Half-reclined: Fully-reclined. Fancy a nap? ;) Gave Allie our old loveseat since she's moving into her first very-own apartment. I remember how tough it is to try and furnish a place when you're first starting out. The old couch i

Can You See It?

My mil sent me this. Totally AWESOME! ^.^ This is so cool. Can you see the baby? Isn't it amazing what incredible things exist in nature? If you can't see the baby in the picture, don't give up. It's really cool when it actually appears. This is not a joke and ~ NO ~ nothing is going to jump out at you! You have to have an open mind. Don't look for a Baby, and you will see the Baby! Once you see it you won't see anything else!!!

Metamorphosis Update

FINALLY!!! After 4 long months of inactivity, here's an update of my girl. The confetti stitches have killed me for the last 2 nights, but that's all in the pass.... till it happens again in the next page. Hehehe. I didn't unroll the whole thing for the pic, cos I'm too lazy, but the next update will probably include her head. ;) Piccie is a little on the bright side, sorry y'all. Wanted to get it up before I head out to furniture shop. ^.^

The Hazards of Keeping Clean

Doom and gloom, 7 of our fishies died last night. :( *15 minutes prior* I just finished helping Satish clean out the fish tank water and thought I'd go grab a quick shower while he fills it back up. Did my thing, comes tromping down the stairs to him swearing and telling me that 2 of our zebra danios just turned over and started spazzing. The water temperature had dropped 3 degrees in a matter of 15 seconds cos the water that was added in there was ice-cold.... cos I was in the shower..... ooops! So he was trying in vain to get some hot water, ANY hot water in there to get the temp back up. While I was standing there watching, another one turned over and started floating, and then another. I have never seen anything go belly up so quickly in my life!!! A third turned over and started doing crazy-assed somersaults!!!! Holy cow!!!! Around and around in circles it went, then ZOOOOOOOOM!!!!, right across the tank, and then a few twitches, and a few more, and down it sank all the way

It Found Annette!!!!

There I was, blissfully happy in my own little stitching world, surrounded by a couple of loving BAPs (big ass projects), and colorful charts and flossies.... perfectly content in my mailart virgin-dom, when Bonnie strutted into my life. She enticed me with pictures, flaunted her wares like a shameless hussy, and snared me willingly into her clutches... and darn if I didn't love every minute of it!! Oh, oh.... OOOOOOH!!!!!! ;) I sent my first to Annette, and after two long weeks of travel, it finally made its way into her loving arms. Phew, what a relief, my baby is safe!!! I didn't want to post any piccies before, but now that it's arrived, let the good times roll!! The front: closed up into the shape of an envelope, and opened up to reveal the whole length. The inside, with 2 pockets for storage (mil's wonderful idea ^.^) The back: folded up, and with its lining. There's another mailart exchange in the works. I'm trying to resist, but the pull it too strong.
