A Couple of WIPs

Image
I'm all done with the DMC colors for Mini Mandala 6 aka Moonstone Garden. Happily enough, Cindy at europeanxs informed me on Monday that the last silk we've been waiting on had arrived and I should be receiving the package by Friday... *fingers and toes crossed*

Somehow my camera dislikes the blue threads on white belfast. Every pictures comes out way over on the 'cool' spectrum and as a result look really stark. Oh well, this will do in a jiff.....

In the interim, I started Namaste last night, and it's been a quick stitch so far. I'm using a self-tea-dyed belfast linen and Vikki Clayton's HDF. The plan is to finish this in the next couple of nights before the MM6 silks arrive. We shall see....

Mini Mandala 06

Image
There's this wall space above the towel rack in the guest bathroom that I've been wanting to fill with something beautiful for a long time. And Chatelaine's MM06 is it!!! Titled Moonstone , this mini has gorgeous blues and teals, and added in the mix are some of my favorite greens!

I started this about a week ago and was hoping to have it down within 2 weeks. But since I'm still waiting on some silk and bead supplies, I don't think that deadline is viable. It's only DMC colors right now and not much to look at, but I've seen the finished version and it's spectacular!!

Nasi Lemak

Image
This is a Malaysian dish called Nasi Lemak: Coconut rice, anchovies and onions sauteed in sambal chilli paste, hard boiled eggs, curry chicken, and cucumber. YUMMMM!!!!

The eggs this time was a little overdone :S and I made a mess cutting them before serving, but they tasted yummilicious! ;)

To-Do List Revisited

Now that Japanese Garden Mandala is finished, I have the next 2 or 3 months of stitching planned out. As a result, there are more changes to 2010's To Do List. I really don't know why I bother with this seeing as how I hardly ever stick with the initial plans, LOL!

1. Start Japanese Garden and finish at least 1/2achieved June, 2010
New Goal: Finish Japanese Garden - This is going so well and gathering so much steam that I can't fathom putting it down. The aim is to have this done by the end of August. finished Aug. 1st, 2010

2. Finish Circle of Friendsfinished Jan. 7th, 2010

3. Hedgehog Baby by EMSfinished Feb. 27th, 2010

4. Sampler (a Wiehenburg or Garden Stars) Sweetheart Tree's Weeping Violet for Uncle Ed and Aunty Sandy - If I actually get my act together, this is a super quick finish. 1/4 of it is done since it's an orphan from a friend who started it.

5. Namaste for in-laws (let's try it again this year. LOL!) - I don't think this will make it, but I&…

Japanese Garden Mandala... It's Done!!!!!

Image
Japanese Garden is finished!!! Yee-haw!!! This has truly been one of the most enjoyable stitches I've done. Each section is a whole new discovery of intricate stitches and gorgeously blended shades that combines into a masterpiece.

I even enjoyed working on the repeating patterns. By the 3rd go around, the crane had become a trusted friend, with its cute nooks and crannies and yet every time the backstitching goes in and the beak appears, it's a whole wonderful discovery again.

The emergence of every flower is a joy to behold, but I have to admit that I had anxious moments trying to make sure that they appeared unplanned and abandoned in the color placement.... sorta like how they would be in real life.

And let's not forget the beads, the icing on the cake as my cousin said. They add so much depth and subtlety, as they dance and shimmer brightly or blink coyly depending on how the light hits.

Next up, Mini Mandala 06!!! :D
