Random Afternoon Question

Lost another needle last night.... everything was going along nicely when I was beading, and then the thread got looped around itself. So, after a long suffering sigh, I pulled out the thread, and wouldn't you know it, if that darn needle didn't get a life of its own and JUMPED out of my hand! Probably sneaked a 5 hour energy drink-a-ma-jig when I was at work or something.

So then, began the 'hands-and-knee-touchy-feelie' dance on the rug. No, not THAT kind of a touchy-feelie dance... ROFL!!! The poor rug is probably still in shock today from me groping around on it and digging my fingers between the fibers. ;)

Alas.... I didn't find said needle, and said no to hubby's offer to turn the couch over to look under it... so into my meager stash I went and pulled out another John James' Petite.

This brings me in a roundabout way to today's question.... What is your favorite stitching needle?

Mine is a toss-up between John James' Petite and Piecemakers 28. I love them because they allow me to use my floss up to the very last bit and I can bead with them!! Their little tips are kinda blunt so my fingers don't get prick and jabbed either. They don't corrode, last almost forever... who could ask for better stitching sidekicks? :D

I do not have a favorite needle, I thought your question was going to be about losing needles. I'm good at that, I think my couch likes to eat them as afternoon snacks.

I hope you don't find it the hard way like I usually do - stuck in your foot :) I like the gold plated ones that come in the Dimensions kits.

My favourite needles are Tapestry needles no.24with a golden eye.
They have no sharp point and are very fine to embroidery.
But mostly i am able to stitch with every needle, it dousn,t mather wich one, only the size is important for me!

I like the JJ petites too! I buy them in bulk and use them until the eyes break.

I don't really have a favourite needle but do quite like the gold plated ones but just tend to use whatever is around because I have a tendency to lose them, a lot.

Okay, I am the odd one out as I just use whatever I can find in my stash as I keep my needles in a container that film for a camera came in. I think most of them I purchased at walmart not even noticing the size. They do get lost somewhere in the couch from time to time. :)

I love petite needles! And I almost always us a size 28. And I also use a needle until it either runs away, or breaks on me. Unfortunately, I can only buy DMC needles locally, so that's what I use. Next time I buy online, I should add in some more Piecemakers, I really like those, and only have one left...

Hmm...I only really use gold plated DMC needles. Size 24 and 26. =]

I use a magnet to find my runaway needles. Even then some disappear into the ether.

I tend to use what I have in my stash too - I save all the needles that come in the freebies and the kits in a couple of different needle holders. I do have some JJ peeble needles with some extremely fine needles in them but I tend not to use them unless I need to use up the last bit of the thread...as we sometimes have to do! I do like the size 24 gold needles though...

It is quite interesting reading what everyone likes to stitch with - good question :-)

"Oh, I'm sure the rug didn't mind the attention he got!"was my first thought after reading the post, lol! XD As for the actual question, I don't think I have a favourite brand or something...I guess my favourite needle is the one I can't find at the moment!
