Orchid - Finished!!

Orchid is done!! Thank you all so much for playing along on my first contest!

I'm at 10:32 am EST as I type this and the contest is officially closed. :D For the record, I've taken a screenshot of the last entry by Rahenna.

Through this process, I've discovered that I don't like having to keep tabs on my stitching time. :) It made me antsy to know that time was tick-tocking away and I felt like I should hurry along. Do those of you who keep a lot of your stitching hours feel the same way?

Without further ado, here are the pics taken when the last bead was stitched last night.  I diligently took pictures of the time log and WIP every night (They were housed in a locked album in Picasa for the duration.) and they can be FOUND HERE.

I looked through your guesses right after a took a screenshot of Rahenna's comment and GUESS WHAT, RAHENNA??? YOU'RE IT at 29:30:00!!! Maybe we should have a new saying about the late worm, huh? LOL!!! A 123stitch GC will be on it's merry way to you shortly. :D

Here are better pics of Orchid that I took this morning, more close ups can be found in the link in the third paragragh. I couldn't be more pleased with how she turned out. I hope my friend will love her, if not, I have just the spot for her. ;)

The Particulars:
Orchid by Mirabilia
Fabric: Opal, 32ct hand-dyed opalescent lugana by Picture This Plus
Stitched 2 over 2
Floss: DMC, Kreinik
Beads: Mill Hill
Started: December 19th, 2011
Finished: December 27th, 2011

I framed her with a metallic frame from Michaels.
The pink was perfect and suited her to a tee.

I had a feeling you were going to finish it around 30 hours! This turned out beautiful. I'm the same as you. I hate keeping track of my time. I had to do that with modelstitching and it is a pain to do.

If your friend doesn't want her, there's always space on MY wall... :p I think I'm going to have to stitch her myself, she's so much prettier than the model picture shows.

Thank you again! :)

Congrats! She's gorgeous!
You're a pretty fast stitcher.

As far as tracking hours go: I track in approximations, so if I stitch 16 minutes I write it down as 1/4 hour etc. I've never felt pressured by the time. Sometimes I finish a session and am surprised by how long I've stitched and other times it feels like I've been at it for hours and it's only 10 minutes! Mostly the tracking is for my own obsessions.
Plus I can make guesses about how long certain designers take. For example one of the Christmyth ornies is 3-4 hours. So in theory that's 2.5 weeks of stitching for all 12. It lets me make plans (that I never actually fulfill, but that's another story).
And I'm sure that way, way more than you ever wanted to know about my stitch-and-time philosophy!

Orchid is gorgeous, and beautifully framed. I'm amazed at how fast you can stitch. Thanks for your encouragement to get Angelic Melody done by December 24th. I wasn't able to (darn that working for a living), but I appreciate it! Here's an update. http://ottoplace.com/tiffstitch/7-xmas-2011-ruined-okay%2C-not-really

My DH also changed the comment system so I lost your comment, but now you can use a variety of IDs to comment. :D Thanks for the suggestion.

You are so fast it is scary!!! I love the beading in this, and the frame is perfect. I too do not like keeping track of time when I stitch, unecessary presure.
Maggee said…
Oh my!! She is absolutely Beautiful!! I especially love the beading! Your stitching is flawless! Congrats on such a great finish! And thanks for hosting IHSW! Hugs!
Wow, that's so pretty, and under 30 hours seems really fast, too! Congratulations on finishing her!
Katie said…
Wow! First she is gorgeous. Secondly wow on the time you finished her in. I wouldn't enjoy keeping track of my time at all. I like keeping track of days on a piece I think. Sometimes I even forget to do that.
Colleen said…
Congrats on your speedy finish, I only wish I could stitch that fast. She is beautiful and yes, the pink frame fits her well! Congrats to Rahenna on her winning time.
